YOU Have Questions?
I have Answers!

How Many images will we receive? How will we get them?

Every story is different, which means that every wedding is different. The number of images depends on the number of hours booked, the number of events scheduled, and the number of photographers (just me vs having a second shooter). Industry standard is 50-100 images an hour, however I do not like to give an exact number, because there are so many variables. That said, if there is a specific event happening during your wedding that you KNOW you want photographed, be sure to let me know ahead of time!

The final images will be exported as JPEGs and uploaded to a gallery sharing site called Pixieset. An email will be sent to you with a link and a download code. You'll need both to download the gallery. Galleries are only kept for so long, so please make sure you back up your files!
(Note: this is solely for weddings and elopements. Family sessions follow a different process.)

What is your turnaround time?

This is covered in more detail in my contract, but my standard is 4-6 weeks for a full gallery. There are rare occasions where the gallery is ready sooner, and if that's the case, I will send it early. With that said, I never want to rush a gallery; I'd rather deliver a perfect gallery in 6 weeks than an OK gallery in 2 weeks.

Weddings & Elopements

Angles! Angles! Angles! While I am fully capable of photographing a wedding or elopement solo, hiring a second photographer will enhance your wedding gallery by having coverage of different angles and candid moments while I focus on the formal parts of the day.

Why do we need a second shooter?

Weddings & Elopements

Why do we need an engagement/formal portrait session?

Engagement sessions are a great way to get to know each other and to have some time together before the wedding. I want to make sure that everyone is comfortable and confident on your day. They also provide beautiful images for your Save the Dates, and complete a cohesive gallery that matches your wedding photos.

Formal sessions are great for creating a certain look or getting specific portraits that you may not have been able to get at the wedding. Especially for shorter weddings, where ceremony and family portraits might take priority, knowing that you have extra time to get more portraits later can take a lot of pressure off of your shoulders.

Weddings & Elopements

Can we bring our dog?

Dog, cat, cow, llama, pig, horse - please, please, please bring your pets! Our furry friends are part of our family and they are always welcome at my sessions (venue permitting).

Weddings & Elopements

Do you take pose recommendations? What about a shot list?

To a degree, yes I do take recommendations. I love seeing what you've envisioned for your session, and if it's possible to do my version of your idea, I will. Exact replicas aren't guaranteed due to copyright laws and outside forces (time, place, ability, props).

As for shot lists, I will try my best to get each combination on your list, but time is limited and I truly recommend you prioritizing your shots. If you have a large family, a photo with each aunt, uncle, or cousin my not be possible. I recommend starting with a large family photo, and breaking down after if there's time. Same with friend groups, coworkers, sports teams, and other groups you may want photos with.

Weddings & Elopements

Are you welcoming and affirming?

At K. Elizabeth Photography we are 100% welcoming and affirming. We accept and photograph couples and families of every race, gender, sexual orientation, and at any point in a transition that you may be in. We truly believe that love is love and everyone is deserving of having a perfect day dedicated to sharing their love.

We also strive to only work with other vendors who feel the same.

Weddings & Elopements

Weddings have always been one of my favorite things to photograph. I started second shooting in 2017, and by 2018 I was shooting weddings alone under my own business name. I'm going into my 7th wedding season with so many different types of weddings and elopements under my belt that it would take too long to list them all! However, I am of the thought process that there is always something to learn, so I try to learn two new things with each wedding, elopement, and session I shoot.

How long have you been photographing weddings?

Weddings & Elopements

My editing style can be summed up in three words: vibrant, bold, and true.

My colors are normally true to color, but enhanced. They stand out in contrast to each other and the neutral tones of the image. I do have a slightly warmer tone to my photos, but not so much where skin tones look orange. My black and white images have deep shadows and bright highlights, bringing the contrast of the colors into the dichromatic tones of black and white.

How would you describe your editing style?

Weddings & Elopements

When hiring me, you're agreeing to the end product advertised on my website. My photos are all consistent, from a posing, composition, and editing standpoint. While I do appreciate everyone who likes my photos, they come edited in the same way every time. If you're wanting someone who has a similar photo style but a different editing style, I would be more than happy to send over a few recommendations.

We like your photos, but want a different edit - is this possible?

Weddings & Elopements

In short, no. You don't want all the photos. Let me tell you why.

On any given wedding day, I take thousands of photos. And I mean that literally, no exaggeration. Thousands. There are duplicates of almost every pose, there are photos where people are blinking, talking, moving, or making a weird face. There are photos where there is no recognizable subject (usually taken accidentally while walking). There is also no way for anyone to go through thousands of photos and find the ones you want to print, nor should you have to. They take up a lot of storage space and I don't want my couples to feel overwhelmed.

Which is why part of my job is to cull the photos (go through and pick the best of the best), edit those, and usually cull again to make sure I'm only delivering the most amazing moments of each part of your day. I believe in quality over quantity, and therefore won't send any photos that do not live up to my standards as I don't feel that is fair to my couples.

Do we get *all* of the photos?

Weddings & Elopements

Welcome to New England, where the weather is as predictable as a cat's thought process. (If you don't have cats, think about what this may look like, and then multiply it by 10.)

Rain and snow are inevitable in New England, however, sometimes they can make for really unique and fun photos. Ever seen a couple in a movie dancing in the rain? Or a family building a snowman while it snows all around them? Well, now's your chance! Let's have some fun.

Most wedding venues have a second location in case of inclement weather. If the whole day needs to be moved, and I have the new date open, then a one-time reschedule is allowed with no fee. If I am not available, an associate will be hired through me to cover, and I will edit the images. For instances where a second reschedule is necessary, a rescheduling fee will be applied. After that, the session is forfeited and a new retainer and contract are necessary to book a new date; the original retainer will not be refunded.

What if it rains or snows? What if we need to reschedule?

Weddings & Elopements

On the rare occasion where I have to cancel (due to sickness or an emergency), an associate photographer will be hired to cover and I will edit the photos. All associate photographers have been vetted by me and are deemed professional, with a similar shooting style to mine.

On the very rare occasion where both myself and an associate are unavailable, all payments made will be returned within 30 days of the event, with my deepest apologies.

In cases where travel is required, all possible courses of action will be taken to make sure I am there on time to fulfill my contract. However, there are some instances where I am not in control (especially when dealing with flights and other means of public transit). This is covered more deeply in my contract. Please reach out with any questions.

What if you can't make it?

Weddings & Elopements

Every client signs a contract for every single session. In that contract is a model release. This release gives me permission to post the images from each session on social media, my website, and my blog. It also gives me permission to use those images in advertising and for commercial use. I normally don't share images until the full gallery has been delivered.

However, individual circumstances will be taken into consideration and can be discussed prior to signing the contract.

Will you share our photos? Where? When?

Weddings & Elopements

Where should our session take place? Outside? At home?

This is truly up to you. There are a lot of things to consider.

  1. Weather - what time of year are you wanting to shoot? Will it be hot? Cold? Raining?
  2. Number of people - how many people will be in the photos? Will they all fit in your house for a group photo?
  3. Aesthetic - what style are you looking for? Does your house match? Is there a location elsewhere that works better? Are you wanting candid, posed, or both?
  4. Price - tickets and entrance fees are not included in the session price. If it costs money to get in, you as the client are responsible for all costs associated.
  5. Getting ready - while your house doesn't have to be spotless, cleaning will have to be done prior to the session. I do not remove clutter in photoshop. If you don't want it in the photo, put it away.
  6. Behaviour - are your kids better behaved at home or outside? While I have experience working with children of all ages, I want this to be a stress-free experience for everyone.

Please note: I do not have a studio; if a studio is requested, the rental fee will be added to the session fee.

Family & Date night

What should we wear?

To a degree - whatever you want. BUT! A few things to consider:

  1. Your surroundings - will you blend in? Will you clash?
  2. Patterns - strips and polka-dots aren't always the most flattering, nor are they easy to match.
  3. Who will be there - will everyone be able to find something in their size? Are there varying degrees of the chosen color?

My recommendation is to keep it simple. Stick to neutrals that match most everything. Also think of where the photos will be shown, and how long they'll be there. One holiday? One year?

Family & Date night

I require at least 48 hours notice, unless travel is involved (in which more notice will be needed). However, the sooner the better. In terms of being sick or having an emergency, I offer a one time reschedule for free. For most other reasons, or if you need to reschedule more than once, a fee will be required. If the session needs to be cancelled completely, a cancellation amendment will need to be signed. In all cases, session fees are non-refundable.

Late clients who inform me prior to the start of the session will have a 15 minute grace period, where no time is taken out of their session. Late clients who don't inform until after the start of the session, will have a 15 minute grace period, and 15 minutes taken out of their session. Late clients who don't inform me at all will have a 15 minute grace period before I leave and a new session fee is required to book a new session.

What is your cancellation/rescheduling policy?

Family & Date night

What if the kids don't cooperate?

Kids are kids, and I completely understand that they're going to do whatever they want to do. Which is why I prefer lifestyle sessions versus posed sessions. This means that kids can be themselves, and I will focus on genuine facial expressions and moments instead of trying to get the perfect posed family photo. However, if someone is just not having a great day, a conversation can be had about rescheduling.

Family & Date night

Can we bring our dog?

Dog, cat, cow, llama, pig, horse - please, please, please bring your pets! Our furry friends are part of our family and they are always welcome at my sessions (venue permitting).

Family & Date night

how much photoshop do you do?

Very, very little. I will edit out noticeable acne, an obvious distraction, or anything else I feel takes away from the final image. If a child falls and has a small scratch, I'll take that out too. If there is something small that you request I take out, I'll try my best.

I do not edit faces or bodies to look younger, slimmer, or anything that isn't true to who you are. If edits like this are requested, a professional editor will be hired and the cost of the edits will be invoiced to you.

An extended family session is when more than one family is photographed together. This is great for holidays and gifts, where the grandparents, parents, grandkids, and great-grandkids are all together. The price depends on how many families are present. A single family consists of parents/guardians/etc, children, and/or pets. A single family session is $450. Each additional family is $350, with 10 additional photos added to the gallery. Grandparents and great-grandparents are no additional cost.

For example, I am one of three children. Our parents have us, my sister has her family, my brother has his, and I have mine. This means that three families are present, so the total would be $1150, with a total of 32 images.

Extended family sessions with more than two families will have up to two hours, while single family sessions are one hour.

Family & Date night

What is an extended family session? How much are they?

Do you offer payment plans?

Yes! I know that times can be tough and photos can be expensive. Payment plans can be customized depending on price of session and length of plan. Feel free to reach out for more information specific to your scheduled session.

Family & Date night

What if we want more photos than what is included?

Love all your photos? Wonderful! Additional images are available for purchase for $100 each, or in packages of 5+. If you're interested in the full gallery, that can be purchased for an additional fee as well; price depends on number of images in the gallery.

How do Newborn sessions work?

Newborn sessions normally take place on a weekend morning, 7-10 days after birth. I focus mostly on the baby, their nursery, and detail photos, but I also include family photos, which includes parents, siblings, and pets. I do not bring props or do traditional posed newborn photos. I ask that the baby is fed and ready to sleep because that is the easiest way for me to take their photos. If there are any photos that you're wanting in particular, I recommend starting with those so we definitely have them before baby or siblings get too fussy.

If photos of baby are all that you are interested in, please feel free to take a break, relax, and let me work my magic. I want this to be as stress free as possible.

Family & Date night

What is a date night session? what does it include?

Date night sessions are just what they sound like - me photographing your date night! Whether you go out for ice cream and mini golf, or stay in for a home cooked meal and a glass of wine, I want to be there to capture the love between you two.
