What is boudoir?
By definition, boudoir means "a woman's bedroom or private room." In terms of photography, a traditional boudoir shoot is done in a woman's bedroom or private room. Over the years, these sessions have evolved - lingerie has changed, we've moved out of bedrooms into living rooms, kitchens, and even outside. Now, a boudoir shoot can be completely customized. There can be themes (birthday, holiday, location), props (food, specific pieces of lingerie, jewelry), life events (wedding, divorce, recovery/post-op), or just because you want to! These sessions are powerful and empowering, but also fun and carefree. Finding that balance is a skill and it is what separates boudoir photographs from photographers who shoot boudoir.

Do you have your own studio?
Right now, no. However, not having my own studio means that, together, we can find one that fits the style of shoot you're looking for. There are studios located all over New England that have different set ups and features, different colors and pieces of furniture. Weather permitting, it also means we can find a unique place outside to get some gorgeous shots of you with nature.

A lot of boudoir photographers have client closets, where they purchase lingerie pieces in different sizes and let their clients pick from their selection. At the moment, I do not provide lingerie. One reason I don't is that I don't have a studio to store it in. The other reason is that I find shopping for lingerie an integral part of preparing for the shoot itself. You can choose literally whatever you want. You're not limited to what the photographer has in your size and you don't have to worry if you don't like what they're offering. You have the time to search and try on as many pieces as you would like, then choose the top 2-3 that truly make you feel your best, and your confidence will show in your final images.

Do you provide lingerie?
what should i bring/not bring for outfits?
Lingerie can be tricky, especially for those who've never worn it before. I recommend purchasing a few different styles, colors, and sizes to find the perfect piece.
Things to keep in mind:
- Make sure the size is correct; ill-fitting lingerie will not photograph well, and you will not be comfortable.
- Avoid baby dolls; while cute for personal use, they unfortunately don't photograph well and are not the most flattering.
- It doesn't have to be lingerie; other pieces of clothing to consider are: flannel/button down shirts (oversized is best), jackets (jean jackets are always nice), robes (long and flowing are fun to play with).
- Don't forget the accessories; high heels, jewelry (statement pieces, pieces with meaning), props (wedding veil, garter, whip, handcuffs, etc).
