By definition, boudoir means "a woman's bedroom or private room." In terms of photography, a traditional boudoir shoot is done in a bedroom, with an overall "sexy" vibe to it. Over the years, these sessions have evolved - lingerie has changed, we've moved out of bedrooms into living rooms, kitchens, and even outside. Now, a boudoir shoot can be completely customized. There can be themes (birthday, holiday, location), props (food, specific pieces of lingerie, jewelry), life events (wedding, divorce, recovery/post-op), or just because you want to! These sessions are powerful and empowering, but also fun and carefree. Finding that balance is a skill and it is what separates boudoir photographs from photographers who shoot boudoir.
Right now, no. However, not having my own studio means that, together, we can find one that fits the style of shoot you're looking for. There are studios located all over New England that have different set ups and features, different colors and pieces of furniture. Weather permitting, it also means we can find a unique place outside to get some gorgeous shots of you with nature.
A lot of boudoir photographers have client closets, where they purchase lingerie pieces in different sizes and let their clients pick from their selection. At the moment, I do not provide lingerie. One reason I don't is that I don't have a studio to store it in. The other reason is that I find shopping for lingerie an integral part of preparing for the shoot itself. You can choose literally whatever you want. You're not limited to what the photographer has in your size and you don't have to worry if you don't like what they're offering. You have the time to search and try on as many pieces as you would like, then choose the top 2-3 that truly make you feel your best, and your confidence will show in your final images.
Lingerie can be tricky, especially for those who've never worn it before. I recommend purchasing a few different styles, colors, and sizes to find the perfect piece.
Things to keep in mind:
- Make sure the size is correct; ill-fitting lingerie will not photograph well, and you will not be comfortable.
- Avoid baby dolls; while cute for personal use, they unfortunately don't photograph well and are not the most flattering.
- It doesn't have to be lingerie; other pieces of clothing to consider are: flannel/button down shirts (oversized is best), jackets (jean jackets are always nice), robes (long and flowing are fun to play with).
- Don't forget the accessories; high heels, jewelry (statement pieces, pieces with meaning), props (wedding veil, garter, whip, handcuffs, etc).

2. Amazon (great for variety on a budget)

Boudoir sessions require a certain amount of vulnerability and trust between the photographer and client. The best way to establish this is to keep distractions to a minimum. While friends and significant others can provide a certain level of comfort, they can also create a barrier as well. We know they mean well, but sometimes having someone else there can make it more difficult for clients to trust me and themselves. During our session, we'll put on your favorite music, get in the zone, and have a fantastic time creating beautiful images!
(Some exceptions can be made. Please reach out if you have any questions.)
Do you have to? No. However, starting off the day with a bit of pampering helps set the scene. We'll chit chat, create a playlist for the day, relax with a coffee or a tea, and let our professional hair and makeup artist do their thing. It takes pressure off of you and our pros can keep it simple and natural or go full glam - the choice is yours!
Please let me know ahead of time of any allergies you have to any skincare products.
Boudoir sessions are all about celebrating you as you are! My goal is to show you how incredible and strong you are, no matter what life has thrown your way, and I find that the best way to do that is to keep things as close to real life as possible. Anything that is permanently on your body (scars, stretch marks, wrinkles) will stay while anything temporary (bruises and blemishes) will be edited out. I do not edit body shape or size and I do not alter skin tone.
I ask that you set aside at least half of your day, but a custom timeline will be sent once details are finalized. We'll aim for an early morning start for hair and makeup (45-60 minutes), move on to our one hour session, and then take a few minutes at the end to schedule a reveal session. Depending on time and location, same-day reveals may be available, but most will be scheduled for a virtual reveal on a different day. Ideally, our day will wrap up after three hours.
Once your photos have been selected at your reveal session, editing the files will take 3-4 weeks. Every photo is hand edited with care and attention to every detail. An email will be sent directly to you with the final gallery once all photos are finished.
After products have been purchased at your reveal session, printing and shipping can vary based on which products were ordered. Products won't be sent to the lab until digital files have been edited, which can take 3-5 weeks, and then will be printed and shipped directly to your home address. A more definitive timeline will be discussed once product orders have been confirmed.
Albums can take longer to order. Once photos have been chosen and layouts approved, the same process will be followed to order and ship your album.
At this time, fully nude sessions can be discussed and booked but I do not photograph any erotica. There are photographers that are well versed in those styles and I recommend reaching out to them if that's something that you're interested in.
Boudoir sessions are incredibly vulnerable and clear boundaries must be drawn to protect both clients and the photographer. Don't hesitate to reach out if you have any other questions.
Yes! Couples sessions can be so much fun and a great experience for both of you. It's a unique way for the two of you to connect and get some gorgeous images to remember it by. These sessions are perfect for anniversaries and holidays like Valentine's Day, but there's nothing wrong with booking one simply because you're in love!
At K. Elizabeth Photography we are 100% welcoming and affirming. We accept and photograph people of every race, gender, sexual orientation, and at any point in a transition that you may be in. We truly believe that love is love and everyone is deserving of having a perfect session dedicated to honoring who they are.
We also strive to only work with other vendors who feel the same.
A model release clause is included in every contract, which must be signed to complete the booking process. However, I completely understand if you're hesitant to have your images posted to social media. If that's the case, the clause can be edited to say that only faceless/anonymous photos can be posted, photos can only be posted in my private Facebook group, or no photos from the session can be shared. I am happy to chat through these options if you have any questions.
A session fee of $600 is required to book along with a specific date and location and a signed contract.
