Introducing Your New England Elopement Photographer: Me!

I’m Kat, your New England elopement photographer, lifestyle photographer, boudoir photographer, and all-around hype girl.

Welcome to K. Elizabeth Photography, where everyone is welcomed with open arms, where love is love no matter what, where a family is made up of whoever you want it to be, and where every session is captured authentically so your photos represent who you truly are and where you are in life at this very moment.

So, who am I? Great question!

I’m not just an elopement photographer. I am a:

  • Born and raised New Englander (who took a minor detour through Tennessee).
  • Proud mother of an Australian Shepherd named Kala, a brown tabby cat named Meeko, and a grey cat named Pua.
  • Collector of music, books, elephant figurines, candles, memories, experiences, passport stamps, hobbies, and tattoos.
  • True artist, down to my bones;
    • I’m a photographer, writer, violinist, flutist, crocheter, singer, and painter
  • Disabled and chronically ill business owner who is determined to show you that your images are worth the investment, because YOU are worth the investment.

So, why photography?

I started out modeling in high school and quickly found that it just wasn’t for me. On my 18th birthday, my parents gifted me a camera and I didn’t put it down for months. In fact, I was terribly annoying about it (just ask my friends and family). Since then, I went to school for art and photography, studied abroad, travelled around the world, and honed my craft into the fine-tuned, well-oiled process you see today. And my love for art has only continued to grow.

My photography process is a little different than other photographers’.

My approach is rooted in making you feel your best. Helping others on their journey to self love and acceptance and making sure my clients feel great, regardless of how they perceive themselves, is essential to my process. I want my clients to feel comfortable with me, beyond just working well together. When planning a session, I dive deep; I want to know why you want these photos, what you want to get out of it (a confidence boost, a day of pampering, or just some pretty pictures to hang), and what you’re scared of. If I know these things, I know exactly how to make you feel your best so that you get the most out of our time together.

I wasn’t always confident. In fact, some days I’m still not. But when you feel confident in yourself, your photos come out better. Plain and simple. And so I’ve worked hard to love who I am, and that’s what I’m here to do for you. People who feel nervous, awkward, or unsure at the start of a photoshoot will leave feeling incredible, radiant, and like their truest selves. My main focus during this process is you.

Whether your true self is silly, calm, or joyful…. You are welcome here. You need to feel celebrated exactly as you are; all kinds are welcome, all love is celebrated equally, and prioritizing the things that make you who you are is essential to my craft. This is about you and only you, and making sure that you know that you’re worthy of feeling beautiful, because you are beautiful.

My journey to becoming an elopement photographer wasn’t easy, but it was so worth it.

I spent those first few years of operating my business slightly lost and unsure of what I really wanted to do. I worked in studios, I worked 12-hour weddings, and I worked events and sessions of all kinds, but nothing truly lit the fire within my soul.

After all of that uncertainty, I finally looked inward, healed my inner child, and realized that what I loved most about all of the projects I’d worked on previously was the love I was capturing. And that led me here, to being an elopement photographer, and I’ve finally found where I belong. I belong here, with you, forever preserving your love for each other in beautiful images that capture your authenticity and devotion.

Elopements aren’t just small weddings. They’re a different vibe, a different mindset, and a way for those who don’t want to invite everyone they’ve ever met to their wedding to enjoy their day. They’re a way for those who crave intimacy, authenticity, and experiences over large floral centerpieces and complex seating charts to let their true self shine through every part of their day, and every image I take.

And I am here to make that dream a reality. I can’t spend 8 hours on my feet anymore. I can’t climb a mountain for a ceremony and then hike down for the reception. And honestly, I don’t want to. I am here for those couples who feel the same; I am here for those couples that want the beautiful locations and the fun experiences, but in an accessible, manageable way. I am here for you.
